Blessings Abound,

The Sacred Earth Center’s newest practitioner, Lily Van Halen (more about Lylly later in this letter), shares the following quote from Mother Teresa: “Dedicated to serving life, not because it is broken, but because it is holy.” How beautiful. And something to hold in mind and heart for all of us. As Earth Healers, it is so important that we stay out of the trap of thinking that the planet, her creatures, or our fellow humans are damaged or somehow, not whole. When we see someone as incomplete or “broken,” we contribute to their pain and inability to recognize their own wholeness. It is the job of all healers to hold a view of wholeness for those we are supporting – especially when they may not be able yet to hold that view for themselves. This applies to our vision of the Mother. When we see her as anything but whole (“holy”), we contribute to the confusion of the time. When we see her holiness, we become Earth Healers.

With so much going on at the Sacred Earth Center, I have found myself sending out more and more email messages – probably more than you wish to receive. So, I am trying out a new plan – I will limit my emails to a twice monthly newsletter. My thought is to send these out near the new moon and the full moon.

Our biggest news is that this week we have expanded into additional space. We are still in #41 at Liberty Center, but now we are in #42 and #51 also. Our services are expanding, as are our classes, workshops, and gatherings.

Gatherings and Events

Blessings Abound,

When it seems that the things which once kept us secure – careers, governments, social institutions, etc. – are crumbling all around us, it is easy to fall into fear and anger. In this, the beginning of a new age, our inner work becomes all important. There really is a way to thrive and that is to consistently work at filling our beings with love and light. This is the most useful thing we can do for ourselves, for the people around us, and for the Earth Mother. There is so much of our culture that has been based for so long on false values. Now is the time to gently release our hold on those values and begin to build a positive future. With political events of late, I hear so much conversation filled with anger, despair, and fear. Those thoughts and words contribute to the distress in the world. This is the time to step up our efforts to wash those conversational and thought habits out of our beings and our lives. This is the time to fill our hearts with light. We are being invited to trust. We are being invited to share love and support with each other through sometimes difficult changes. We are being invited to adopt new values and demonstrate them in all aspects of our lives. We are being invited to usher in a new world.

We are expanding! It seems that we have more going on all of the time at the Chapel and Healing Center. We have outgrown our space – but we are not moving. Blessings Abound,

There is much said and written about preparing and taking care of ourselves spiritually in these massively changing times – about how to negotiate the shifts that our planet and our culture are going through. Recently, however, I have been given many messages about the importance of preparing and taking care of our physical beings. This is an aspect of care which I have pushed to the background over the last several years. Now I am being told that my body must be able to keep up with my spirit. If it is to do this, there are changes that must be made. The body is the vehicle which will help me help others through the challenges of these times. The students of spiritual healing whom I work with these days are channeling quite a bit more energy than the students I worked with twelve years ago, when I began this work. I believe that this is because the need is greater now – the work of our souls is accelerating. I find myself required to channel more energy in my work with clients and in my walk in the world. To create and keep a powerful and healthy channel, I’m told, it is time for me to make shifts in diet and movement. What exactly these shifts entail takes intuition and experimentation and is different for each person. Consider this my invitation to you to see where you can bring your body just a little bit more in line with your spirit – how you can strengthen your body to be a greater channel of love in the world. And also, consider this my request for support while I work (and play) to do the same.

Experience the Summer Solstice on Tuesday, June 21, at 7:00 by experiencing the Oneness Deeksha Blessing, led by Lisa Remy and Pranarose (Harriet Meiss). The Blessing is offered free of charge.

"Receive the power and grace of the Oneness *Deeksha Blessing.
Experience a quieting of the mind, listening with the heart, and clarity in the present moment. Experience the essence of your being.
The Oneness Deeksha Blessing is not affiliated with any established religion. The teachings are universal and focus on the personal experience of the Divinity within each one of us. Oneness- the Divinity that we all share.

There will be a brief introduction, balancing of the Chakras, and the Onenesss Blessings from many Blessing Givers. The Blessing is transferred as the Blessing Givers place their hands on your head for approximately 1-2 minutes. Following the blessing, there will be time for rest and integration of the experience.

*Oneness Deeksha is the transfer of Sacred energy - "grace" - which facilitates a movement into higher states of consciousness and a flowering of the heart. It creates a neurobiological shift in the brain, assisting in silencing the ceaseless chatter of the mind and in bringing one into the moment where there is peace, joy,divine presence and connection to all forms of life."

We are excited to announce that Kylie Devi is now at the Sacred Earth Center and she is offering donation based bodywork, energy healing, breathwork and coaching. She works with those who have suffered any form of trauma, and specializes in working with survivors of sexual trauma. She works with survivors and their partners and loved ones in terms of communication and healing.

We are very happy to announce the ordination of our first ministerial class. On Saturday, April 30, in a private ceremony, the Sacred Earth Ministry will ordain Rev. Dr. Sunemaura O'Brien, David O'Brien, John H. Dame Jr., Patricia Sample, Rev. Catherine Kristin Adams, Kylie Slavik, and Rev. Dianne F. Hall.

Applications for the next ministerial class are now being accepted. The next class will meet for one full day session each month from September to April of this year. If interested, please contact Rev. Sunemaura O'Brien for more information (contact info below).

We are also happy and excited to announce that Lisa Remy, Massage Therapist, Reiki Practitioner, and Yoga Instructor (MA55602) has now joined the Sacred Earth Center as a practitioner. Contact her at (352)870-2218.

Healer and Shaman Elka Boren returns to the Sacred Earth Center on May 2^nd and 3^rd. Elka works in the Spirit realm, using Sacred Geometry, among other gifts to help remove blocks to our happiness and the manifestation of our greatest potential on all levels. On May 2^nd, from 7:00 to 9:00, she will conduct a healing circle. All are welcome - cost is $30. Reservations encouraged. On May 2^nd and 3^rd, she will do private healings. Once again, I am offering the Earth Spirit Healing class. We will explore Shamanic practices and principles, deepening our relationships with Earth, with ourselves, and with the Divine. This is more of a "doing" class than a lecture class. We will explore shamanic journeying, communicating with Nature, working with stones, crystals, plants, and other creatures of the Earth and more. We will meet from 7:00 to 9:00 on Monday eves starting on May 9. Class fee is $10 to $20 per class. Reservations are necessary. Contact Sune.

Blessings Abound,

I have great difficulty getting to the computer at this time of year. In Spring I am, body and soul, involved with the garden. This year, the garden has been more than pure pleasure. It has been therapy for me as I deal with the death of my younger sister Sarah three weeks ago. Sarah's life was full of difficult challenges and ended with the challenge of cancer. I have found myself mourning her life and it's challenges, wishing things had been a little easier for her. But this week, in the garden, I turned a corner. The new life which I see every day in the garden opened my heart to the reality of Sarah's joy. I saw her three children, her work caring for special needs adults, her artistic talent. Most of all I remembered her absolute certainty that she was being well taken care of and loved by a Universal God - no matter what outside circumstances might imply. I share this certainty. Nowhere is it more clear and sparkling than in the garden. David and I planted a rose for Sarah today, ending mourning and beginning remembering. And in the garden, I breathed in gratitude.

Earth Spirit Healing Class Begins Monday, May 9th

Meeting Monday nights for approximately 6 months, Earth Spirit Healing is an exploration of shamanic practice and Earth centered healing. It was given to me by a variety of teachers in a variety of realms. It will deepen your experience, knowledge, and communication with yourself, Creator, and Earth Mother. Some of the topics to be worked (and played) with are: Shamanic Journeying, Stone and Crystal healing, Plant Allies, Communication with Nature and more. On March 19, from 3:00 to 6:00, we will offer a Labyrinth – a contemplative walk to the heart and soul of ourselves, of creation. January 2011 has marked the official launch of my long awaited for spiritually based not for profit organization, the Shakti Awake Healing Project. It has come after thirteen years of academic and spiritual research and experience. The main intention of the project is to provide low-cost bodywork and other effective healing modalities to those who have suffered the traumatic impact of sexual trauma and rape. We will assist practicioners in financing their education in somatic bodywork, vibrational therapy, breathwork re-education, and other proven ways of assisting the release of trauma in the body, mind and spirit. Shakti Awake will also be providing educational resources to communities to learn how to better assist these individuals.

Scrying with Meteorites

So many of us are going into the new year with questions on our hearts. My email box is filled with mailings containing explanations and advice. Book after book is published with the same. But my personal guidance tells me to leave all that behind – to remember the spiritual principle of trust and learn to be all right with not knowing. I’m told to deepen my love for all of life and to fully immerse myself in love of the changes. To savor the questions without trying to answer them. To always give thanks though I may not understand.

Dec. 4 – “Meditation for Everyone”, first Saturday of each month, 10:00 – 11:30 offered by Maitreya Kadampa Buddhist Center - Classes are designed for everyone through practicing basic guided meditation techniques to enable you to relax and to make your mind more happy and peaceful. They also include an excellent introduction to Buddhist psychology, philosophy and practice. $9 per class ($5 for students or those with limited incomes, no one turned away for lack of funds)

Dec. 12 – “Shitake Mushrooms: Cultivation and Benefits” (workshop) – 2:00 to 4:00 offered by Pat High - Shitake mushrooms are the fruit of animals – the most botanically active healing food on earth. Nutritional benefits and recipes will be covered as well as Chinese and Japanese growing methods. We will have 5 varieties of shitakes growing on 3 varieties of oak logs as well as 3 variety logs for sale. Instructor Pat High has been raising shitakes off grid for 7 years using solar for her 235 producing logs. She has a BS in Animal Science and an MS in Agriculture and Environmental Engineering. Dec. 18 – Winter Solstice Celebration, 5:30 to about 7:30 - Burning Bowl and Peace Tree Ceremonies, a releasing of those things and energies that no longer serve us and a welcoming of new energies and intentions to us as individuals and to the world. Blessings Abound,

Gathering in spiritual community continues to gain more importance every day. When we gather we nourish and strengthen each other, giving each one of us encouragement to stay on the Path.

But more importantly, working together, we increase the energy of what we send out to the Earth and her creatures. When we work in a group, the individual light of each of us grows. Then, our lights together grow exponentially to send a powerful light out to the Universe.

This light feeds and nourishes all of creation. This month, find a way to send group light of gratitude out to the Universe, whether it be within your family, friends, spiritual community, or just the person you ride the bus with.

Blessings Abound,

In the healing room, I channel Love for the recipient of the healing. Over the years, this has inspired me to work (and play!) at becoming a channel of Love in my daily life. I see this as the primary goal of the Earth Healer – to become a channel of Love to all beings and to all situations on this planet. This can be challenging, when we perceive ourselves as being the victims of small or large attacks. This can be challenging when we perceive the Earth as being attacked. Then we often find ourselves thinking in terms of “good guys” and “bad guys” or “them” and “us.” This divisive thinking builds barriers to Love and barriers to the healing energy we hope to share. Love is built on this planet when we recognize the Divine in every being and every situation. We seek to allow the Divine to flow rather than add to roadblocks. Of course, sometimes we fall short. But we continue in our efforts. We cannot consider ourselves Earth Healers unless this is our goal.

Blessings Abound,

I’m told by a spirit teacher that the matrix for the person I want to be already exists. I have only to start making my decisions in accordance with that person. In that way, I will step into the new matrix and manifest the qualities of kindness, wisdom, and strength that I desire. So it is with all of Humanity. The matrix for a new culture already exists. Each of us is able to step into it at any time. In this way we will navigate the changes that are occurring and create a New Earth. Resistance – grasping to keep old, ineffective ways of being in the world – is futile. The world is changing and we are responsible to create a culture of love to go with the changes.

The Sacred Earth Center exists to assist us in making the personal choices to create a new culture.

The New Ministerial Training and Ordination Program begins Monday evening, September 20. This is a change from the original date. We will meet every other Monday from 7:00 to 9:00, also a change. We will begin with working with material from "How to Thrive in Changing Times" by Sandra Ingerman and material given by the "Hathors", channeled by Tom Kenyon. It is not necessary to read these materials as we will not be doing a book study, but only drawing on them. Our purpose will be twofold: to help ourselves make and integrate changes which will make us more comfortable in our roles as ministers and to give us tools and knowledge which will help our clients take healings out of the healing room and into their lives. This first series of classes will last 4 to 6 meetings and is open to everyone – not just to those interested in the ministerial program. The cost of the class is $20 per meeting. Blessings Abound,

The end of summer is quiet for me and for the Sacred Earth Center. So many of us are seeking out water – the only way to truly keep ourselves out in Nature, connected physically to the Mother. It’s been a time of resting and waiting for many of us, preparing for new projects and new waves of transformation.

We are preparing for the beginning of the new ministerial training program. The first class is Monday, September 13. The first module will be “How to Thrive in Changing Times” based on the book of the same title by Sandra Ingerman. It is not necessary to be part of the ministerial program to participate in this class. We will meet on Monday evening for 6 weeks. The time will be confirmed later. The cost is $20 per week.

Applications for the ministerial program are being accepted now. Contact me for info.

Starting August 10, and meeting every other Tuesday from 4:30 to 5:30, an Earth Healing Group will meet to offer prayers, meditation, and healing for the waters of the Earth. Please contact me if you’d like to take part.

The Didgeridoo Circle and Yoga Magic are on hiatus for the rest of the summer. Look for them to reconvene in September.

There will be a Fall Equinox Circle on Saturday, September 25, from 1:00 to 3:00. More info later.

Goodbye to Larry Hall

Rev. Dr. Larry Hall died peacefully on Wednesday, July 28. He was comfortable and happy, full of peace, and surrounded by loved ones.

Larry was an important part of the Sacred Earth Center. His gifts of laughter, love, and enlightenment continually nourished the people around him. We will miss his messages from spirit and his readings as they always encouraged our spirits, letting us know that we were never alone. We will miss his laughter as it always told us that the Path was one of light heartedness and joy. And we will miss the love he brought to his work and to his friends. The love of a friend is a safe haven and always appreciated.

A memorial service is planned for Sunday, August 15, at 4:00, at the Sacred Earth Center. All are welcome

We began this summer with great change at the Sacred Earth Center. Previously, we had been a chapel of the Alliance of Divine Love. While we have great respect and love for the ADL, we are no longer under their auspices and are now an independent church in our own right. As such, we intend to extend our work beyond our walls. We will begin a Ministerial training and ordination program in early September. (However, individual work in the program may start sooner, if one desires.)

My spirit teachers spoke of the program: “Sacred Earth Ministers will be vessels of transformation on the planet. They will hold space for great healing for the Earth, for her Creatures, for Humanity. Yes, they will have the responsibilities of Ceremony, Teaching, Prayer, Counseling, and Healing, but, more than that, they will embody Compassion and Hope on the planet in this time of great change.” Contact me for info or application.

The Book Sale has been postponed until later this year. We are still gratefully accepting book donations. Donations may be left at any time in the weatherproof book drop outside the door. We sell the used books about spirituality, metaphysics, alternative health, green living, etc. for minimal prices.

Reiki Circle on Saturday, July 10 from 1:00 to 4:30: Reiki practitioners of all levels are invited. We will have a distance healing circle, exchange mini healings and do creative work together. Please let me know if you are coming so that I may plan for space and tables. Donation: $5.

Earth Healing Group: I am calling together a small group who would like to work in ceremony, prayer, and healing for the benefit of the planet and humanity’s relationship with the planet. Explore the Ancient Arts of Yoga and Sound: Join us for this once a week workshop, where we challenge old belief systems about ourselves, explore the body and expand the mind. Siddie guides us through some of the limbs of the ancient art of Yoga. Inspired by her own experience on the mat and in the world, We will begin to quiet the mind with simple meditation techniques, we'll charge up the body with vital life force through Pranayama-breath control exercises, and of course we will move through an invigorating and balancing Asana-physical posture- practice.

While Peter Levitov treats us to healing and entertaining sounds inspired by a wide variety of world instruments, including World percussion, Native American style flute, harmonica, Tibetan singing bowls, Tuvan jaw harp and throat singing, and of course the Didgeridoo.

Siddie will lead trust building partner postures and activities while we will learn how to deeply trust another person in a completely new way. On March 20, from 12:00 to 4:00, we will gather for a potluck lunch, a dedication of our new space, and a Spring Equinox Circle. We will hold in the center of our circle the energy of our individual and group blossoming. Brings drums and rattles – or use ours – to raise energy for a group mandala and messages from Spirit. Earth Spirit Healing is an exploration of Shamanic Practice and an introduction to Shamanic Healing. It is working with helping spirits and aspects of nature for healing and enrichment. New Space

Our big news this month is that we are moving! We need a little more space and we have found it in the space just next door to where we are now. As of March 1^st , we will be in Liberty Center, 3131 NW 13^th Street, #41( instead of #42).

To nourish our moving fund, I (Sune O’Brien) am offering distance healings and readings – with the support of Reiki, Shamanic Journeying, and the Sacred Path cards, I offer healing as well as guidance and encouragement on the Spiritual Path. Holistic Health Fair

The Gainesville Holistic Health Fair will be held on Saturday, January 30, at the United Church of Gainesville, 1624 NW 5th Avenue, in Gainesville FL 32603 (at the corner of NW 17th Street and 5th Avenue). It will be open from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Tricia Sample and I will be there, enjoying the event, sharing info about the Sacred Earth Center, and selling the Essence Mists, healing stones, and a few other healing supplies. Rev. Mary Madeline Day will be offering a free workshop, “How EFT can be a Tool to Peace and Healing.” The workshop will take place at 1:00 in the Storytelling Room.

Blessings Abound,

This year, let’s pay close attention to the energy that we are sending out. We each have the opportunity to assist the healing of humanity and of the planet by radiating love and compassion.

It is easy to feel powerless when we watch decisions concerning our lives and the life of the planet being made from afar. Some of us empower ourselves by becoming politically active. But if political action is being done with the energy of anger or separation, it is creating division and radiating harmful energy. And it is important to realize that we are never powerless – we always have the opportunity to share kindness and compassion in our world, thus ending a little piece of separation and division.

Our inner work is the most important we can do – the work of transforming ourselves into beings that radiate love continually. If we are radiating love, our political and social work is so much more empowered – and leads to truer and deeper change in our society and our planet. And each personal interaction becomes an exchange of kindness – a truly earth changing possibility.

Upcoming Small Group Sound Healings

Peter Levitov is a musician and Reiki Mastership student who shares his Reiki (and other tools) through the Sacred Sounds of Didgeridoo, Native American Flute, Drums, Rattles, and more.

He is offering Sacred Music for healing to small groups at the Sacred Earth Center in the next few months. This experience is offered for a donation to Peter. I will be sending out a list of dates to individuals interested in participating in a group sound healing (4 to 6 participants for each experience).

Earth Spirit Healing Class starting in January

Earth Spirit Healing is a series of Earth Centered experiences given to me by my own experience and by teachers from various realms. These experiences introduce the participant to shamanic practice and shamanic healing. They deepen our experience of Earth, of Humanity, of ourselves, and of Creator. These teachings are shared by experience and by ceremony and a minimum of “teaching by talk.”

Experiences include Shamanic Journeying, Stone Spirit Healing, Making and Using Flower and Stone Essences, Shamanic Healing, and more. A completion of the whole series results in certification as Earth Spirit Healing Practitioner. However, parts of the series may be taken on their own, for their individual benefit.

Reiki Training in Lake City

Level One Reiki Training will begin Wednesday, January 27 in Lake City. We will meet for 4 weeks, on Wednesdays, from 7:00 to 9:00, at Healings Café and Yoga Studio. This is a lovely setting, spiritually conducive to the opening we experience in our hearts, minds, and hands through Reiki Training. Cost is $100, which may be paid in payments of $25 per week. There will be an open discussion and demonstration of Reiki Healing at the café on Wednesday, January 20^th from 7:00 to 9:00 (free of cost). The Gainesville Holistic Health Fair
